TEXAS STATE RAILROAD The Texas State Railroad, Est. 1881, is a fun destination close to home for the entire family. This historic tourist railroad offers steam and diesel train excursions that travel through the scenic piney woods of East Texas. Passengers board at either of the two Victorian Styled Depots located in Rusk and Palestine and enjoy a relaxing trip on board passenger cars built in the early 1920s. Train Excursions are offered on selected days year-round and special events and dinner trains are offered throughout the year. Ticket prices starting at $36.50 for adults and $19 for children (ages 3-11). Infants 2 and under ride free. Steam engine and Climate-Controlled Coach upgrades available. Reservations are recommended. Special events held throughout the year include: The Polar Express™ Train Ride, Day Out With Thomas™, The Lone Ranger® Train Ride, Peanuts™ Events, The Little Engine That Could™ Rail Tour, RailFest, Photo Excursions, and more.
